Late-Night Nostalgia Stamp by PsychoDemonFox Late-Night Nostalgia Stamp by PsychoDemonFox
Recently, Cartoon Network's Toonami block was resurrected... as part of Adult Swim. Also, Nickelodeon has "The 90's Are All That", which is basically a bunch of shows from the, we 90'S, on TeenNick from Midnight-2:00 am eastern.

So, my question is, why are the nostalgic shows on so late at night? It's a step in the right direction, yes, but I can't help but get the feeling it's just another way to pander to the nostalgic crowd. It's a shame, really, because kids/teens nowadays are missing out on some good TV. (I'm not saying all shows on kid's stations nowadays are bad, the problem is, there's too much crap currently on so-called kid's cartoon channels.)

Or maybe it's just me...

Probably because they expect teenagers and 20-somethings to be awake at that point?

Maybe. I still think they're just trying to play of the nostalgia factor though. And I LIKE sleeping, I'm not gonna stay up until 4M just to watch a show I like!

It's a ratings thing: They think kids nowadays won't attach to a show from the 90's when they can watch something with better animation.

Of course, by the time they're teenagers, they mostly outgrow this outlook, so TeenNick doesn't really have an excuse.

That's not always true. I got my kid brother into the Wild Thornberrys.

Serously... x.x

Another one that comes to mind is Gargoyles shown around 4-5 on Disney XD.

Typical. Disney's live-action media darlings get the spotlight while the good shows are relagated to the nighttime slots.

You try telling me there's justice in the world...
